05/02/19 at 02:22T. Clodius Eprius Marcellus was suffect consul probably in 61 AD. He was praetor peregrinus for 1 day only (Dec. 29, 4. He was legate of Lycia and proconsul of Asia from summer of 70 to summer of 73. He was noted as a delator under Nero, and on Nero's death was attacked by Helvidius Priscus as a delator and by Licinius Caecina (a partisan of Otho) as a supporter of Vitellius. He regained favor under Vespasian, but became involved in the conspiracy of Caecina Alienus in 79, and was tried, convicted and then committed suicide. Cornell Studies in Classical Philology (1901), No. XVI, The Epigraphical Evidence for the Reigns of Vespasian and Titus, p. 24, fn. 3. |
