Acquired from Spink´s in April 1970. This is one of the very few known examples of the late 4th century didrachm coinage of Kyme. One example signed by a different magistrate is in the BM and one was sold by NFA in 1976, which may well have been struck from the same dies as the present piece but is so corroded that it is impossible to be sure.

While such coins are generally assigned to an uncertain Thraco-Macedonian mint, the style of the current coin is more refined than any of the horse types in Tzamalis. “Horse/incuse” types were almost certainly minted at multiple locations, and a mint in (western?) Asia Minor would seem logical based on provenances.
