Ancient Greek and Roman coins from Asia Minor

Coin ID #5281

Elaiousa-Sebaste (BC 40) Tetradrachm

ca 40 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.39g). Veiled, turreted head of Tyche right, wearing pendant earring / EΛΑIΟΥΣΙΩN THΣ IEΡAΣ KAI AΥTONOMOΥ, goddess standing left, holding tiller, ΔΙΟΚ monogram above aphlaston in outer left field, IΞI in inner left field, wreath border. Extremely rare. Very fine/extremely fine. Prieur counts only seven known tetradrachms of Elaeusa. He refers to just a single issue of these coins, but the variant controls on SNG Paris 1152 seem to point to a second.
