Augustus, 27 BC-14 AD. AE23 (9.12g). Potitus Valerius Messala, proconsul. Struck circa 25 BC. POTIT MESSALAS, bare head of Potitus Valerius Messala left / [E]ZEANITΩN, right hand holding scales suspended; monogram to right. Fine, dark green patina with lighter green overtones. Extremely rare. Ex Villemur Coll.; Ex Aufhauser 13 (10/1997), lot 292.
