Gordian III, 238-244 AD. AE35. AVT KAI M ANT ΓOP[ΔIANOC CEB], draped, cuirassed, radiate bust right, seen from behind, in field Π-Π / TAPCOV MHTPOΠOLEΩ, in the upper right field A/Γ, in the lower left field M/K, Herakles, bearded(?), nude, stg. facing, head left, resting with right hand on his club, holding over left arm the lion-skin and in the outstretched left hand five apples; left beside him a tree with twigs, entwined by a snake. Very rare, good F/about VF, trace of ancient smoothing process on rev. The coin is in the usual rough state of the coins of Tarsos. Hoeft coll.
