(BC 400-370) Artumpara - Stater

Artumpara, Dynast, ca 400-370 BC. AR Stater (7.62g, 9h), Telmessos mint. ΤΛ[...], bearded head of Satrap right, wearing Persian tiara / ΑΡΤΟΧΠΑΡΑ, helmeted head of Athena right. Extremely rare, one of only a very few coins of this Dynast known. Good fine. PGB coll., acquired in early 1970s.

Artumpara was a late satrap or dynast of Lycia who was involved in putting down the revolt of Datames; he himself seems to have been defeated by Perikle, who at one point ruled over most of Lycia.
