Lamos (AD 253-260) AE 24 - Valerian I

Valerian I, 253-260 AD. AE24 (7.55g, 6h). Radiate and draped bust right / Apollo standing left, nude but for cloak over shoulder, holding arrow and bow. VF, dark grayish-green, almost black, patina. Rare. Krizan Coll.; ex CNG 64 (9/2003), lot 660; Levante Coll., 482; Sternberg 7 (11/1977), lot 833.

At the time of Levante's study of the coinage of Lamos in 1982, he knew of only ten coins of the city, three of which were in his collection. This is the only type that was represented by more than one specimen.
