Apameia (BC 100-48) AE 35

ca 133-48 BC. Medallic AE35 (20.74g). Bust of Athena right, wearing high-crested Corinthian helmet and aegis; set within an incuse beaded circle surrounded by a raised circle with two raised borders / ΑΠΑΜΕΩΝ, eagle alighting on basis with meander pattern, flanked by caps of the Dioskouroi, star above; magistrate ΚΩΚΟΥ. Good VF, brown patina with some rub on the high points, several patches of hard red encrustation. Very rare and quite spectacular.
