Komama (AD 161-180) AE 33 – Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius, 161-180 AD. AE33 (19.82g). Bust laureate, draped, and cuirassed left / Zeus standing left, holding patera and scepter; small altar and small eagle at his feet. Fine or better, a bit encrusted. Very rare. Only two specimens known to von Aulock, both from the same obverse die but a different reverse die. The reverse die of this coin is new and previously unknown.
