Claudius, 41-54 AD. AR Didrachm (7.48g, 12h). Laureate head left / DE BRITANNIS in exergue, Claudius, holding reins and scepter, in triumphal quadriga right. Near EF, toned. Rare. The didrachm was introduced during the reign of Claudius. The reverse type portrays a powerful piece of political propaganda; namely, Claudius returning triumphantly from Britain.
