Anazarbos (AD 222-235) AE 34 - Severus Alexander

Severus Alexander, 222-235 AD. AE34 - Hexassarion (21.51g, 12h). Dated CY 249 (230/1 AD). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Nike, holding wreath and reins, driving quadriga left; ЄT ΘMC (date) in exergue. Good VF, dark brown-green patina, small area of red on reverse. Ziegler knew of only three of this type for this year (excluding that in the Levante supplement): the von Aulock specimen and two in the Smithsonian. From Group CEM.
