Tarsos (AD 177-192) AE 32 - Commodus

Commodus, 177-192 AD. AE32 (18.55g, 12h). Draped bust of Commodus right, wearing dress of the demiourgos / Decastyle temple with eagle in pediment and KOMOΔEIOC across architrave. Near VF, dark green patina, minor roughness. Scarce. Ex Frederick Coll.

Commodus wears both the crown and the chiton of the demiourgos, the official who oversaw the operation of regional festivals and games.
