Ankyra (AD 130) AE 37 - Antinoüs

Antinoüs, favorite of Hadrian, died 130 AD. AE37 (57.17g). ΑΝΤΙΝΟΟC - ΘΕΟC, bare-headed, draped bust right / IOVΛ CATOPNINOC ANKVPA[NOIC], Men standing left, wearing Phrygian cap, crescent behind shoulders, holding anchor and scepter. NFA X (9/1981), lot 341 (this coin). Apparently unique as a medallion; otherwise known only in sestertius size. Several minor pits on obverse and some isolated pitting on reverse. Extremely handsome portrait of Antinous. Obverse with a glossy olive patina. Good very fine/good fine.
