Apollonia Salbake (AD 222-235) AE 42 - Severus Alexander

Severus Alexander, 222-235 AD. AE42 - Medallion (46.11g). ΑΥ Κ Μ ΑΥΡ ΣЄ ΑΛЄΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ, laureate, draped and cuirssed bust right / ΣΤΡΑ ΑΓΑΘЄΙΝΟΥ / ΤΟ−Υ ΙΗ / ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΑ/ΤΩΝ, Emperor in military uniform with extended right and Nike on globe riding facing spread quadriga. Extremely rare. Unpublished (?). Dark brown patina. EF. Ex Gorny & Mosch 155 (2007), 216.

The magistrate is known from contemporary coins (s. Robert a.O. S.264). The reverse theme is identical/ copied to the later coins of Gallienus (S.P. de Saxe-Coburg, Monnaies grecques inedites, RevNum 1892, 87f. pl.III 8).
