Baris (AD 249-251) AE 21 - Time of Trajan Decius
|
Time of Trajan Decius, 249-251 AD. AE21 (4.44g). BOVLH; Veiled head of Boule right / BAPHNΩN; Hermes seated left on rock, holding caduceus and purse.
The referenced coin in Von Aulock is another ‘pseudo-autonomous’ coin with a Boule obverse. The reverse die, Artemis standing facing, is shared with a coin of Hostilian (Von Aulock, Pisidiens II, 343). The seated Hermes is known on several coins of Baris.
