Abydos (BC 175-70) Tetradrachm

ca 80-70 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.63g, 1h). Draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver at her shoulder, within dotted circle / Eagle standing right with spread wings, bunch of grapes to right; Î‘Î’Î¥-Î”Î—-ÎÎ©Î above, Î¦Î•Î¡Î•ÎÎ™ÎšÎŸÎ¥ (magistrate) in exergue, all within laurel wreath. Beautifully toned. Good very fine. From the collections of H.S. von Aulock, R. Jameson, and Consul E. Weber (Hirsch XXI, 11/1908, lot 2534).
