Marcus Aurelius, 161-180 AD. AE36 - Medallion (34.12g). AV KAI M AVPH ANTΩNEINOC, bust laureate, draped, cuirassed right / AΠOΛΛΩNIATΩN ΠPOC PVNΔA around, KΩ in exergue, Artemis standing left, holding bow and placing crown on head of Apollo standing front, who raises his right hand to accept the crown; Apollo also holds a bow in his left hand, and is nude apart from a cloak hanging from his lower left arm; to left, a tall tripod with a snake entwined around its front leg. Dark olive patina. Extremely fine. Ex NAC 21 (5/2001), lot 477.
