Bithynia Uncertain (AD 81-96) AE 26 – Domitian

(Nikaia?) Domitian, 81-96 AD. AE26 (12.82g, 7h). Laureate head right / Nike advancing left, holding shield and palm. Near VF, greenish-brown patina, a few breaks in the patina around the edge. Extremely rare - only a single specimen cited by RPC, this possibly being the second known. Tricarico coll.

Actually this is an unpublished variant with obv. legend AY ΔOMITIANOΣ KAIΣAP ΣEBAΣTOΣ ΓEP; regular RPC 709 has obverse legend AYT ΔOMITIANOC KAIΣAP ΣEBAΣTOΣ; RPC 709 var. published on S2 supplement has ΑYΤ ΔΟΜIΤIΑΝΟΣ ΚΑIΣΑΡ ΣΕΒ ΓΕΡ
