Ancient Greek and Roman coins from Asia Minor

Coin ID #9587

Sillyon (AD 253-268) AE 28 - Gallienus

Gallienus, 253-268 AD. AE28 - 10 Assaria (14.31g, 8h). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right; I (mark of value) before / Mên on horseback right; I (mark of value) below. Near VF, brown surfaces, usual porosity.

Unlike most 10 Assaria issues from this region where the denomination mark is only found on the obverse, some coins from Sillyum place it on both the obverse and the reverse. Its position on the reverse of this coin below the horse at first glance leads on to think that the horse has five legs.
