Laodikeia (AD 244-247) AE 27 - Philip II

Philip II, as Caesar, 244-247 AD. AE27 (8.20g, 6h). Bareheaded, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Wolf (λύκος) and mule (κάπρος) seated facing each other. VF, brown patina. Rare variety; the wolf and boar are normally seated back to back, with heads turned to face each other.

The reverse alludes to the chief rivers in the vicinity of Laodicea, the Lycos and Kapros.
