Kyzikos (BC 500-450) EL Stater

ca 500-450 BC. EL Stater (15.94g). Youthful male figure, wearing tainia with frontal spike, kneeling right, holding [knife] and tunny / Quadripartite incuse square. Good VF, light scrape in field on obverse. Exceptional for issue.


While not exceptionally rare, almost all of the published examples have all or part of the head of the figure off the flan. Also, most of the published specimens exhibit considerably more wear than the present example.
