Kyzikos (BC 460-400) EL Stater

ca 460-400 BC. EL Stater (15.97g, 12h). Warrior, nude but for crested Corinthian helmet, kneeling right, checking the straightness of his arrow, bow hung over his left wrist; tunny downward behind / Quadripartite incuse punch. VF.

This type is part of a sub-series of Kyzikene staters that depict a warrior, in this case an archer, in the various stages of preparing his equipment for battle (Von Fritze I 115-117). It is not known whether this sub-series depicts any particular hero from mythology.
