Holmoi (BC 4th cent) Obol640 views4th cent BC. AR Obol (0.66g, 6h). Helmeted head of Athena right / Wreathed head of Apollo right, ΟΛΜΙΤΑΝ to right. Good VF, toned, areas of slight die rust. Unpublished legend variety.
Typically, the ethnic found on the coins of Holmoi, if not trunicated, are in the form ΟΛΜΙΤΙΚΟΝ, ΟΛΜVΤΙΚΟΝ, or ΟΛΜΙΤΟΝ. The form on this coin, ending -AN, is possibly the result of an engraver accustomed to the Aeolic dialect, rather than the standard Attic. Aside from this specimen, there are apparently no recorded coins with this variation of the ethnic.
