Lapethos (BC 425) Stater630 viewsca 425 BC. AR Stater (10.67g, 22mm). Type almost obliterated, helmeted head of Athena left /head of Athena right in crested Corinthian helmet; the whole in incuse square; ankh (♀) symbol upper right corner. Extremely rare. Lightly toned, nice very fine.

Lapethos (BC 6th-5th cent) Stater860 viewsLate 6th-early 5th cent BC. AR Stater - Double Siglos (10.82g, 6h). Wounded giant kneeling left / Herakles running right, wearing lion skin, holding club, bow, and arrows, within dotted border; all in incuse square. Fine, toned, two test cuts. Extremely rare, apparently the 5th known.

The first two examples of this type were found in the Larnaca Hoard (IGCH 1272), followed by the example found in the Persepolis deposit (IGCH 1789). These three are all in museum collections. The current location of the Rosen coin is uncertain (it was not included in the portion of his collection sold in Muenzen und Medaillen 72).

Head of female right / Herakles running right, wearing lion skin, holding club in right hand, bow in left, within dotted square. Toned, aVF. Extremely rare, the 3rd known and the only in private hands.
