The specimen cited by von Aulock is barely fine and as such is called Philip II because of the smooth face. This specimen from the same dies, however, clearly shows an older, bearded portrait and is thus correctly identified as Philip I.

The astragalos (knuckle bone) and club of Herakles are used as subsidiary symbols on the staters of Selge of the 4th century. The appearance of the frontal owl is otherwise unattested on the coinage of Selge or elsewhere in the region.
