Fulvia (BC 41-40) AE 17
|
Eumenea as Fulvia, ca 41-40 BC. AE17 (4.83g). Draped bust of Fulvia as winged Nike right / [Φ]ΟΥΛΟΥΙ - ΑÎΩΠ- ZΜΕPΤΟPΙ, legend in three lines within ivy-wreath. Good VF, glossy black patina. Rare. Freedman Coll.
The city name was changed to Fulvia on the occasion of Mark Antony's journey to the east in 41 BC. Fulvia was to die in the next year, hence this was a short-lived coinage.
