Ionia Uncertain (BC 550-500) EL Stater

Asia Minor, uncertain mint possibly in Ionia, ca 500-­480 BC. EL Stater (13.99g). Lactating lioness crouching left, head facing / Two rectangular incuses divided by a narrow band. Of the highest rarity, among the finest of only five specimens known. Struck on a full flan and extremely fine. Ex NFA 25 (1990), 62 and Sotheby's Zurich (10/1993), 50.
