Ionia Uncertain (BC 600-550) leg - EL 1/24

ca 600-550 BC. EL Myshemihekte – Twenty-Fourth Stater (6mm, 0.66g). Uncertain design (chicken wing, rabbit leg, or human leg?) / Incuse square. Unpublished in the standard references. Good VF. Extremely rare.

The device on the obverse bears a strong resemblance to the obols attributed to Phlious in Phliasia (cf. BCD Peloponnesos 78–80), as does the reverse punch – a case of imitating types?
