Miletos (BC 360-325) Tetradrachm

ca 340 BC. AR Tetradrachm (15.37g, 11h). Theopropos, magistrate. Laureate head of Apollo left / Lion walking left, head turned back to right; star of eight rays above, monogram to left, ΘΕΟΠΡΟΠΟ[Σ] below. Beautifully struck in high relief, a superb example. Extremely fine. Ex Bank Leu 48 (5/1989), 232, from the collection of C. Gillet, Bank Leu & Muenzen und Medaillen (Kunstfreund) (5/1974), 220, and probably from the Mugla Hoard of 1950 (IGCH 1215).
