Saitta (AD 200-220) AE 21 - quasi-autonomous

Quasi-autonomous, early 3rd century AD. AE21 (5.82g). AZIO - T - THNOC, bust of Men Aziottenos right, wearing Phrygian cap ornamented with stars, crescent behind shoulders / CAITTHNΩN, youthful river-god Hermos leaning left, holding reed in right hand and cornucopiae in left arm; resting left elbow on inverted vase from which water is flowing left; in ex. EPMOC. Rare, good VF (the most beautiful ex. I know). Hoeft coll.

The stars on the cap clearly seen on this specimen are not mentioned in BMC or SNG von Aulock.
