Kyzikos (BC 550-500) Hemiobol

ca 520-480 BC. AR Obol (9mm, 0.62g). Head and neck of bird right, its beak extending over head of tunny upward to right / Irregular incuse. Unpublished in the standard references, but see Münzen & Medaillen Deutschland 32 (5/2010), lot 102 for another. VF, toned and porous surfaces. Perhaps the second known.

I believe an example of this coin is published - SNG Ashmolean 527. However, the reference does not recognize the bird element, misidentifying it as a second tunny fish.
