Ancient Greek and Roman coins from Asia Minor

Coin ID #5151

Pergamon (AD 193-211) AE 44 - Septimius Severus & Julia Domna

Septimius Severus, with Julia Domna, 193-211 AD. AE44 - Medallion (43.73g, 6h). Claudianus Terpander, strategus. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus right, seen form behind, and draped bust of Julia left, vis-à-vis; c/m: laureate head of Caracalla right within in incuse oval / Herakles standing right, wrestling the Cerynean Hind; KΛ-AVΔIANOV TEPΠA/NDPOV in legend. VF, blue-black patina, cut on obverse.

As the cut goes through the portrait of Caracalla, this mark is quite probably an example of damnatio memoriae.
