ca 470 BC. EL Hekte (2.51g). Forepart of a bridled horse right, wearing necklace of large beads and with ornamented truncation, ΛΕ below / Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress and with neck ornamented with small squares; all in incuse. This obverse is one of the very few produced at Mytilene that bears the initial letters of the island Lesbos. At time of auction only one other known outside Bodenstedt.
