Pessinus was the capital of the Tolistobogii, one of the Celtic tribes that had migrated into Asia Minor. Their name occurs on some of the coins of this city.

Pessinos was the capital of the Tolistobogii, a Gallic tribe that had settled in the area. The city was best known for its temple of Kybele, who was known locally as Agditis.
